Steel Cutting
Drilling Machines
We have five drilling machines including three Kinetic machines (K4000, K5000 and K5200) and a PCS HD drilling machine. The Kinetic machines are also capable of:
- Advanced Plasma & Oxy Fuel Cutting
- Enhanced Bevel & Multi Torch Cutting
- Advanced Drilling, Milling & More
- Configured for Automated Part Removal (K5200 only)
Oxy/Plasma Cutting
We have five oxy & plasma cutting machines that we use to cut plate from 40mm up to 300mm. Considering the thickness these torches have to cut through the accuracy and straightness of the cut is impressive.
Laser Cutting Machines
Our Yawei laser cutter is the largest in the country and is capable of exceptionally high definition cuts, with thickness’ ranging from 1mm to 20mm.
Oxy/Plasma Cutting
We have a range of machines to suit your CNC requirements. This includes KiHeung RiGiTRAX, Sachman and Okuma machines and a CNC turning lathe. Each machine has a different working area, with the largest bed in the RiGiTRAX at 8m x 1.5m x 2.5m.
Plate Forming
Bevelling
Our Kinetic machines can bevel up to and including 45 degree weld prep bevels on straight edge and contour shapes.
Press Brake
Our Press Brake equipment and a large selection of tooling allow us to form light sheets to heavy plates across a range of bend lengths. Our 5 Axes CNC machines give us the ability to turn around any requirement with repetition and speed while maintaining precision and accuracy.
Plate Rolling
Our Plate Rolling gives us the capacity to roll up 3.2m in length and down to a variety of diameters depending on plate thickness and bend length. We can roll Cylinders, Cones and Transitions in a wide range of material grades depending upon the requirement.

Other Technical Information
Plasma Cut Holes vs Drilling
Plasma cut holes are significantly cheaper than drilled holes, however there are considerations that must be made to decide which option is best for you:
- Cut Hole diameters should always be 2mm larger than the plate thickness, otherwise hole shape can be out of round with a ragged finish.
- Cut holes can vary in diameter by some 4mm overall. OK for bolt holes as long as hole accuracy is not critical. Should request holes to be 2mm larger than required.
- If the hole tolerance is critical then drilled holes should be requested.
Heat Affected Area on Quench and Temper Plate
Although a lot of care is taken when cutting Q&T there will always be a minimal heat affected zone that will have significantly lower hardness than the rest of the plate. Jobs should not be tested after cutting or welding due to the heat used.
Bending
Different strength materials have limitations on how tight the part can be bent. This needs to be taken into account when designing the part.
